Our Story...

Carter Firearms LLC is owned and operated by a husband and wife team in Minden, LA.

Hi!! We are Carter and Genny Hasty. Back in 2009, we decided to venture into the shooting sports industry as a side gig. We both worked full time jobs, but grew up hunting and fishing, and had a mutual love for the outdoors. Our goal was to support our community while establishing a profitable hobby we could enjoy into retirement. And so Carter Firearms was born (named after you know who). The "office" was a small desk in the corner of our living room. We kept no inventory or set hours; just offered gun transfers and the occasional special order, and only to friends and family.

Word spread (as it does in a small town) and our customer base grew to friends of friends and then total strangers. In 2014, we moved the operation out of the house and into a 128sqft building in our front yard. It held one display case, a small shelf of ammo, and minimal accessories. Growing into a "real" business, we restructured into Carter Firearms LLC. The shop was open by appointment only in the evenings and on weekends.

The ability to expand surfaced again in 2020. The shop moved into its current home: a 1600sqft store front (still in our front yard). We added several firearm services such as cleaning, consignment, and scope mounting. We also broadened our range of products to include more firearms and ammo, as well as optics, parts, accessories, gifts, and apparel. We established regular open hours and welcomed walk-in traffic.

Around the middle of 2020, Genny's health took a sudden decline. She was ultimately diagnosed with a genetic disorder (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) and its associated conditions. It effects the body's connective tissue, resulting in multi-system malfunction. {If you're interested in learning more about it, please visit External link opens in new tab or windowThe Ehlers-Danlos Society website.} She was forced to resign from her full-time career position. This put a huge strain on the shop but we're determined to keep it going. Because EDS is a roller-coaster disorder (meaning one's ability to function increases and decreases on a day-to-day and even hour-by-hour basis), the shop's schedule has shifted to "by appointment" once again. You can shop just about any day of the week at just about any time of day. If able, we'll open! Just call ahead, text, email, or message us on Facebook (@CarterFirearms). If you have a certain item in mind, we can do most of the work over the phone or by message. Then you can just pick up when ready!

We want to thank all of our customers, both near and far, for sticking with us through the years! It feels good to have built something from nothing and all of YOU have made that possible! We hope that you see us as family and trust us to provide you with exceptional customer service and quality product. MAKE A DIFFERENCE! SHOP SMALL! Thanks for supporting our little shop and God Bless!!!!
