Our Story...
Carter Firearms LLC is owned and operated by a husband and wife team in Minden, LA.
Hi y'all!! Genny Hasty here. Back in 2009, my husband, Carter, and I decided to venture into the shooting sports industry as a side gig. We both worked full time, but grew up with a mutual love for the outdoors. Our goal was to support our community while establishing a profitable hobby we could enjoy into retirement. So Carter Firearms was born (named after you know who). The "office" was a small desk in the corner of our living room. We kept no inventory or set hours; just offered gun transfers and the occasional special order, and only to friends and family.
|
Word spread (as it does in a small town) and our customer base grew to friends of friends and then total strangers. In 2014, we moved the operation out of the house and into a 128sqft building in our front yard. It held one display case, a small shelf of ammo, and minimal accessories. Growing into a "real" business, we restructured into Carter Firearms LLC. The shop was open by appointment only in the evenings and on weekends.
|
The ability to expand surfaced again in 2020. We moved the shop into a 1600sqft store front (still in our front yard) and added several firearm services such as cleaning, consignment, and scope mounting. We also broadened our range of products to include more firearms and ammo, as well as optics, parts, accessories, gifts, and apparel. We established regular open hours and welcomed walk-in traffic.

Around the middle of 2020, my health took a sudden decline. I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (and its related conditions). It effects the body's connective tissue, resulting in multi-system malfunction. {If you're interested in learning more about it, visit The Ehlers-Danlos Society website.} I was forced to resign from my full-time career and attempted to open the shop a full time while Carter still worked away from home. It was short-lived. EDS is a roller-coaster disorder (meaning my ability to function changes on an hour-by-hour basis). So once again, shop hours are "by appointment" only.
CURRENTLY: We're in the process of downsizing back into the smaller shop. We will no longer carry large quantities of inventory but can order anything you need. We'll be focusing on special ordering products and will continue to sell on consignment, offer firearm transfers and ship warranty work for you. You can contact me any day of the week during daylight hours. If I'm able, I'll open! But if you have a certain item in mind, I can do most of the work over the phone or by message and you can just pick up when ready!
